The one who took two seats on the plane

The one that went and lost their mind
The one that always falls behind
The one who threw up during class
The one that always gets picked last

The one who went and tripped and fell
The one who never seems to be well
The one everybody reprimands
The one nobody understands

We've all had our moments
Don't deny what is true
We all know embarrassment
is nothing new

I have drawers for bullets and flowers and leaves. The rain sometimes comes more sometimes than other times. The sun sneaks out and splatters waves on the wall; trees in the wind. Bullets, flowers, leaves. The world here is made of rocks ground down some and some leave me to wonder about the works of simple men that do so little, not even as much as the rocks. an atheist's prayer

dear god, i planted no tulips in autumn and no tulips came in spring. how silly of me, then to mourn the empty garden, to long for fields of amsterdam, to kneel at night in cold dirt, hands folded. i’ve learned there is a certain ache in lacking a thing never had, that small itch whose relief is two seasons past – so god, if you can hear me, know that i am homesick for amsterdam, whose name, like yours, i know but whose flowers i cannot see.
